According to the ranking, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iaşi (UAIC) is the only higher education institution in Romania which finds itself among the first 1000 universities in the world in terms of utility and maintenance of webpages.
www.uaic.ro is situated on the 580th place worldwide and the 258th place in Europe.

The ranking was elaborated considering the following criteria: utility and maintenance of websites, the volume of data with academic relevance (number of scientific articles on Google Scholar, number of documents and files attached), internet visibility (the number of links towards the website), website complexity etc.

The Webometrics ranking is carried out by the Superior Council of Scientific Investigations from Spain, institution which is part of the Ministry of Education from Madrid and which aims to enhance the quality, relevance and volume of academic websites.

The ECERS Conference is now at the 11th edition, and it aims at gathering experts, young researchers and manufacturers from the field of traditional and advanced ceramic materials, adhesive materials and experimental technics. For more details, please visit the ECERS website.

The visiting delegation consisted in 2 members of the teaching staff, 2 members of the administrative staff and 8 students. They visited the faculties of Chemistry, Letters, Physical Education and Sports, Physics and Philosophy. The event was a follow up of the partnership started last fall, when a delegation from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University visited Winchester.

Within this Erasmus Mundus project, our university will contribute to identifying, at network level, the financial aspects ofjoint degrees and the doctoral joint diplomas with non-EU partners. The two project components will be coordinated by Professor Marin FOTACHE, from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.

The project will have a great impact upon the improvement of the quality of the higher education institutions, its results being disseminated through institutional and student association networks.

The goal of the network is to improve the capacity of HEIs to manage and implement joind degrees at master and doctoral level with EU and non-EU partners.

Alexandru Ioan Cuza University is already involved in joint programs together with other European and non-European universities. At the end of the study period, the partner universities issue double diplomas.

At the Faculty of Physics, for instance, there is a joint doctoral program with Shizuoka University from Japan. At master level, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University is continually developing several partnerships with universities from France, Netherlands, Germany, Italy and others.

The new Code of Ethics strictly forbids the employment of new staff who are related up to the fourth degree of kinship to members of the UAIC academic community. PhD graduates and researches will be employed in didactic and research positions only after completion of an internship or work stage in another academic institution in Romania or abroad, considered to be of equal educational and scientific importance.

The new Code of Ethics was approved (with 50 ayes and one nay) by the Senate Board of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University.

Another rule of the new Code of Ethics stipulates that the members of the University and faculties boards should not exert any political activity during their mandates.

„We needed an ethical Constitution, adopted unanimously, which could protect the university from any implications and interests other than the academic ones. The debate on the moral degradation of society is very popular, but nobody is willing to take action inside one’s own institution. As the oldest university in Romania, we wanted to draw the attention upon this issue and start with our own institution”, Professor Vasile IŞAN mentioned, the Rector of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University.

The Code of Ethics aims at eliminating conflicts of interests, overcoming tense situations, preventing and fighting against any form of corruption and fraud and protecting the academic community members against abuses, denigration, calumny and revenge. The Code guarantees respect for human rights and academic decency and penalizes plagiarism and sexual harassment.

The goal of the Code of Ethics of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University is to sustain and continuously develop an environment of cooperation, mutual respect, collegiality, politeness, trust, discretion and solidarity within the university.

The Code of Ethics was first adopted in 2006.

The invention, awarded at the 37th Edition of the International Showroom of Inventics in Geneva is a polikinetic device which can be used by paraplegic and hemiplegic patients for daily recovery workout. The device allows a high number of complex workout moves and, unlike other similar devices, is compact enough to permit usage at home, without therapeutic assistance or surveilance.

The team was also present Tuesday, 13th of April, at the festivity organized by the Minister of Education, Research and Innovation.
